This week, I visited my mentor and asked questions about how to film my project. I definitely struggled with speaking to him but I brought a friend with me who made feel more comfortable asking questions. Also, my mentor is easy to talk to, too. He said he cannot record an actual tarot card reading because of privacy but a fake one can be set up and he said I could bring a friend to help me out, too. I bought a little bag of chakra crystals and I cannot wait to use them!!!! and I got a red garnet crystal and three bracelets, too. I plan on returning Saturday to buy maybe a ring and something else. Visiting his place also helped me add to my outline.

This week, I also completed my outline for the video. It does not have the coolest format but it makes sense to me and easiest to read. I added whatever I could to my outline so I had an idea of how exactly I was going to shoot my video. I revisited the place and looked a round for at least an hour looking at all the different features and all the other stuff I could film that I forgot about.

This week, I finally found a video to mimic to help me with my capstone project. I really like it because it inspired me to almost completely change my project into creating an advertisement-like video. The video is a promo video of a hair salon. Each clip is less than three seconds and they each show different actions of hair styling. They also show each of the hair stylists and their interactions with their clients. Each clip looks so good because it’s all in slow motion and the movement of the videos is all from camera movement. Also, in the audio, there is background music and just few sample sounds of enhanced sound affects for the actions. I plan to recreate that at Raven’s Cauldron, but of his crystals and beads shop and maybe his tarot readings and other metaphysical services. I definitely struggled more than anything to find this video because it’s not easy looking up ‘cool video’ and expecting the exact kind of video I want to show up. But overall, I really do like this video and feel much better about what my end project will be.

This week, I also wrote out an outline for how I plan to mimic the video I found to make my project. I wrote down all of the different shots and types and where they will be and what the consist of. It was not easy to plan out all of the different shot types because I still need to be at Raven’s Cauldron to know the specific areas I would filming. I also added how many shots I planned to take for each area inside of Raven’s Cauldron and how many seconds it would be. I definitely struggled to create my outline because I wasn’t sure how to format it but I guess the format did not matter, just the content. I would like to be able to film Brian doing a tarot card reading and maybe other services, I am just scared.

This photo is my featured image because finding a video and creating an outline is definitely helping me plan out how to create my project.

Last week, I bought a pendulum and a pendulum board. This week, I bought a book to teach me about pendulums and how to use them. I did struggle to complete the book but I did get through about half of it. I really did enjoy the book so far because it starts off with the history of pendulum use. I definitely plan to use my pendulum soon. I did not realize that a pendulum could be made out of literally any materials and does not have to be commercially made.

This week I also listened to my mentor’s podcast. When I met with my mentor last week, he recommended I listen to his podcast that he updates every week. Each episode is about 45 mins and he is on his second season. Season one has ten episodes. I really did enjoy listening to his podcast {insert details} I definitely struggled with comprehension and attentiveness. I am a visual learner so I really struggle to understand and pay attention to what I hear so I definitely struggle with the idea of podcasts. Overall, I loved the podcasts so much. They’re so beneficial and Brian goes into a lot of detail about each topic which definitely helps out a lot.

This photo is my featured image because both tasks done this week have to do with the metaphysical part of my project. I got both from my mentor, I bought the book from his shop and I listened to his podcast.

This week, to get me started on journaling, I bought a journal that I felt was really pretty and would get me excited to start journaling in. Having a journal that is not visually motivating will not help me keep up the habit and motivation to keep journaling. I decorated the introduction of it to add to the visual appeal to keep me motivated and intrigued. Personalization of the journal also helps continue the habit of journaling. I definitely struggled with continuing to decorate my journal just because I have an issue of wanting things to look perfect for no reason, knowing I cannot draw. I spent about $17; I got the journal, erasable gel pens, and two different kinds of stickers.

This week I also visited my mentor today. First off, I definitely struggled just thinking about going. I get so anxious and feel like I could vomit. But I did successfully speak with the owner. He said he would love to be my mentor and will help me with whatever I need!! He answered my questions that I had and I recorded it on my voice memos app. One struggle is listening to it because you can hear my voice in it too good 🤢 At the end, he gave me a free crystal !! I also bought a pendulum and a pendulum board !!

This is my featured image because I have been super nervous about speaking with a mentor ever since I learned I had to get one, especially since meeting and speaking with my mentor became my 3rd milestone!!

This week, felt that the best way for me to retain the information about crystal healing was to study. I have worked with and studied multiple quizlets. Some quizlets just contained their properties and characteristics. Some quizlets describe just the meaning of many crystals. my favorite quizlet talks about terms that go way beyond just crystals. This quizlet contains 85 terms talking about certified crystal healing terms. i was in absolutely in awe. I am definitely struggling to retain all of the terms but overall it has definitely given me a better idea how how crystals work.

This week I also looked a lot into creating an informational video. Creating a documentary is not really the route I want to go down, but an informational/educational video with an experiment-like in between is more of what I am going for. So, I have been researching about how to create and spread information through a video. I watched multiple videos on youtube about it but my favorite one was this video. I definitely plan to use tips from this video and incorporate into my capstone project in ways that fit for me. And it definitely inspired a few ways I am going to make my short film not mentioned in the video.

This is my featured image because I loved reading the quizlet so much, I really did enjoy diving into the whole world that crystals are apart of.

This week I felt like I still need to do a lot more research about crystal healings so I watched many videos of people explaining crystals. I had a goal of watching at least two to three videos each day since each video usually has a duration of about fifteen to twenty minutes. I definitely struggled with paying attention which is normal for me. I also struggled retaining most information so I have a new goal of studying the information in the near future. My favorite video out of all of them has to be this video because I feel it goes more into detail on helping me accomplish my goal with the greatest results of getting exactly what I want.

This week I also read a few articles about how journaling is therapeutic. The articles definitely enlightened me on more reasons why I felt journaling would be such a crucial part of helping me reach my goal of self healing to complete my capstone project. I did struggle to consistently keep reading the longer articles. I did successfully complete about five articles through out the week. The one I favored the most was this one because it was definitely more helpful in multiple ways such as detailed explanations about what journaling is and what it benefits and it even provides journal prompts to help you get started.

This featured image is definitely what I looked like all week reading a lot on my laptop.

This week, I felt that the best way for me to figure out how I should properly execute my capstone project, I need to do a LOT of research. When it comes to crystal healing, there is so much to learn. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I read a book called Crystals for Beginners, the Guide to Get Started with the Healing Power of Crystals by Karen Frazier. A challenge I had was definitely comprehension. I am not used to reading since I basically stopped reading in middle school so my grammar and vocabulary skills are bottom tier bare minimum so reading this book definitely took me a while. But the book was definitely easier than what I’ve had to read at school.

I definitely learned a lot from a book meant for beginners. The book said I should get a few crystals that I am drawn towards. I spoke with a few people I know who are experienced with crystals about purchasing my first few crystals and they mentioned a crystals and beads shop near by. To get me started and familiar with crystals, I bought a few from the crystals and beads shop mentioned to me. The place is in Delaware, Ohio, called the Raven’s Cauldron. I purchased two yellow cracked quartz crystals and one aragonite crystal. I also purchased a selenite charging plate and a spiral pendant.

This photo definitely visualizes part of what I have done this week. The book I purchased cost about $13 and the crystals from the bead shop were about $20.
